BROWN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PRESENTS MEDALS IN RICKE ARREST
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office presented medals of valor and merit to five officers and a dispatcher who were involved in apprehending Kyle Ricke who shot and killed Algona, Iowa police officer Kevin Cram. Kyle Ricke was arrested September 13, 2023 near Sleepy Eye. Receiving the medal of valor, which is the highest recognition of achievement presented by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office are Brown County Sheriff’s deputies Jason Fairbairn and Justin Robertson, Sleepy Eye Police Officers Taylor Bolinger and Peter McGarry, State Patrol trooper Valerie Hauser and the medal of merit was awarded to Julie Hellendrung. That is awarded for superior handling of the most difficult situation by civilian personnel. Ricke was taken into custody without incident and is facing life in prison.
