BROWN COUNTY WARNING OF SCAM

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is warning you of a scam in which people are receiving fake invoices that appear to have been sent from the Brown County Planning and Zoning Department.  Authorities call this scam sophisticated as the scammer finds available public data and creates a fake invoice that may appear legit to some.  The Sheriff’s office says if you receive a suspicious text or email, delete  it and don’t respond.  If you have provided personal information and/or money, contact your financial institution and report it to law enforcement.   If you have questions, contact the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
