Brunkhorst New District Engineer for MnDOT District 8
WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has selected Kelly Brunkhorst for the position of district engineer in MnDOT District 8.
District 8 includes Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, McLeod, Meeker, Murray, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, and Yellow Medicine counties (click here for District 8 map).
Brunkhorst begins her new role today (Aug. 19).
She replaces Jon Huseby who retired on Friday.
The district engineer is responsible for leading planning, design, construction, maintenance, and all operations of District 8, as well as providing strategic direction to the department.
Brunkhorst says she looks forward to building and strengthening relationships in her new role and continuing to partner with cities, counties, and elected officials to improve transportation throughout the region.
Brunkhorst graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University, Fargo.
She worked at the North Dakota Department of Transportation and as the Brown County assistant county engineer before starting with MnDOT in 2000.
Her most recent position was assistant district engineer – construction.
Brunkhorst and her husband, John, have three children.
