Calls to Resign, Republican Sen. Eichorn Accused of Trying to Solicit a Minor

(Learfield News/Bloomington, MN) — Legislators are demanding a Republican state senator to resign after his arrest for attempting to solicit sex from a minor.

Bloomington Police say detectives spoke to 40-year-old Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids, who thought he was talking to a 16-year-old girl.

Authorities arranged to meet Eichorn on Monday and arrested him without incident.

Felony charges are pending for soliciting a person under 18 years old to practice prostitution.

Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy (D-St. Paul) says the allegation is “deeply disturbing and raises serious questions that will need to be answered by the court, as well as his caucus and constituents.”

Senate Republicans say they are shocked by the reports, adding Eichorn has “a difficult road ahead and needs to focus on his family.”
