Canada Announces Matching Tariffs on U.S. Goods
Canada is responding to new U.S. tariffs with counter-tariffs on American goods beginning September 8th.
The rates will range from 15 to 50 percent and cover $27.6 billion Canadian—or roughly $20 billion U.S.—in imports. Targeted products include steel, dairy, appliances, farm equipment, pulp and paper, and electronics.
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar says the escalating trade dispute will raise prices and make it harder for Minnesota farmers and businesses to compete. Canada is Minnesota’s largest trading partner.
