Empowering Communities, Celebrating Minnesota Locally

Carver County Lands on “Healthiest Communities” Report

If you live in Chaska or near there, you might be happy to learn you’re living in one of America’s healthiest communities.

That’s according to U.S. News & World Report, whose 2024 “Healthiest Communities” ranking puts Carver County in 8th place, just behind Ozaukee County, Wisconsin.

Here’s what the publication has to say about the place:

“Carver County, bordered on the south by the Minnesota River Valley and near the Twin Cities, offers residents access to both the state’s urban center and plentiful natural amenities.

Chaska, its name attributed to a Dakota word meaning “first born son,” has been the county seat since 1856.”

The county earned a score of 84 (out of 100) for “Population Health,” and a whopping 91 for “Food & Nutrition” — owing to the local “availability and use of healthy foods,” U.S. News & World Report says.
