Cass County Urges Public to Be Bear Aware

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents and visitors to take precautions amid increased bear activity.

Authorities report bears entering occupied homes, raiding campsites and garbage, damaging vehicles and contributing to traffic crashes.

Officials say bears attracted by an easy meal are likely to return. Residents should secure garbage, remove bird feeders and keep pet food indoors. Campers should properly store food and scented items.

Anyone who encounters a bear should give it plenty of space. Aggressive or unusual behavior should be reported to authorities.
