Castro set for All Star Game, Twins complete Day 2 of Draft
(Arlington, TX) — Twins utility man Willi Castro is gearing up to play in his first career All-Star Game in Texas tonight. Castro was added to the American League roster when Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve bowed out last week due to injury. The 27-year-old Castro is hitting .265 with seven home runs, 30 R-B-I, and ten stolen bases for Minnesota this season. Twins shortstop Carlos Correa was also selected to the All-Star Game, but he will be sitting out due to a foot injury. First pitch for the Midsummer Classic is at 7 P-M tonight in Arlington.
(Fort Worth, TX) — The Minnesota Twins continued to add to their organization during the second day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft yesterday in Fort Worth, Texas. The Twins began the day by selecting Loyola Marymount catcher Khadim Diaw in the third round before grabbing Florida State outfielder Jaime Ferrer in the fourth. The Twins drafted one more catcher, three pitchers, a third baseman, and an outfielder to wrap up the first ten rounds. In all, they have chosen ten college players and one high school player so far. The M-L-B Draft continues today.
