Cheryl Reeve’s setting WNBA wins record as Lynx defeated the Sun 86-80.

It was a historic night for Head Coach Cheryl Reeve, who guided the Minnesota Lynx to an 86-80 road win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, becoming the winningest head coach in WNBA regular-season history. The victory was the 380th of her career, moving her past Mike Thibault, who previously held the record with 379 wins.

Kayla McBride led the Lynx with 23 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Natasha Howard contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Courtney Williams and Dorka Juhasz both scored 12 points.

Reeve has coached the Lynx since 2010 and has won four WNBA championships (2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017) along with four Coach of the Year awards. She also owns the league’s all-time postseason wins record and became the WNBA’s all-time leader in combined regular-season and playoff victories in September 2025 with her 414th career win.

Reeve was inducted into the Hall of Fame on June 27. She became just the second WNBA coach inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame after leading Team USA to the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She also continues to serve as the Lynx’s president of basketball operations and general manager, making her the league’s last remaining dual coach and general manager.

Lynx improved to 16-6 giving the Lynx the league’s best record and moving them a half-game ahead of both the Las Vegas Aces and Golden State Valkyries.
