Clouds and Rain Chances Return to Minnesota Through Saturday

September 24, 2026 | Three-day forecast: Thursday through Saturday

Minnesota’s three-day outlook brings plenty of clouds, temperatures in the 60s and several opportunities for rain. Forecasts for Duluth, St. Cloud and Rochester show showers or thunderstorms affecting northern and central areas Thursday, followed by another chance for rain in central and southern areas Saturday. Friday offers a break from the wetter weather, although clouds will linger.

Northern Minnesota

In the Duluth area, Thursday will be cloudy with a spotty shower possible. Temperatures should reach 62 degrees, with an overnight low near 52. Friday brings some improvement, with a mix of clouds and sunshine and a high around 64 degrees. Friday night’s low will be near 53.

Clouds return Saturday, but the forecast does not currently highlight additional rain. Temperatures edge upward to around 66 degrees, followed by an overnight low near 55. Friday looks like the best opportunity for sunshine in the Duluth area during this three-day stretch.

Central Minnesota

The St. Cloud area starts Thursday cloudy and cool, with occasional rain and a thunderstorm possible. Highs will reach about 61 degrees, with temperatures staying relatively mild overnight at around 57.

Friday remains cloudy but turns warmer, with a high near 67 degrees and a low around 57. The break from rain does not last long: occasional rain and drizzle return Saturday, holding afternoon temperatures near 62 degrees. Saturday night’s low will be around 54. Those planning outdoor activities around St. Cloud should prepare for damp conditions Thursday and Saturday.

Southern Minnesota

In the Rochester area, Thursday will be cloudy with a high around 65 degrees and a low near 56. The forecast is quieter than St. Cloud’s, without a thunderstorm highlighted for Thursday. Friday remains mostly cloudy, with temperatures reaching 67 degrees before falling to around 54 overnight.

Saturday brings a greater chance for wet weather. Cloudy skies will be accompanied by occasional rain and drizzle during the afternoon, with a high near 63 degrees and an overnight low around 55. Afternoon outdoor plans could be interrupted by rain.
