COMMISSIONERS APPROVE APPLICATION FOR PRIVATE WELL TESTING GRANT

Brown County Commissioners approved Brown County Public Health’s application for a private well testing grant.  The Minnesota Department of Public Health and Brown County Public Health will use the over $28,000 grant to provide well testing supplies for households that rely on private wells for drinking water.  Brown County Public Health Director Jaimee Brand says testing will include arsenic, lead, coliform bacteria, nitrate and manganese and those contaminants will be listed on the MDH dashboards.  Brown County Public Health will partner with Planning and Zoning, Soil and Water Conservation and Minnesota Valley Testing labs among other public health programs to provide testing and education if contaminants are found in your drinking water to help reduce the risk of adverse health outcomes.
