Competing Rallies Held Outside Lynx-Fever Game

Supporters and critics of Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham demonstrated outside Target Center Sunday before Minnesota’s game against Indiana.

The rallies followed Cunningham’s public support for excluding transgender girls and women from female sports. Demonstrators on both sides carried signs and chanted outside the arena.

Inside Target Center, Cunningham was booed when she handled the ball.

Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve wore a shirt reading “Trans kids belong.” Reeve said she spoke with Cunningham before the game and described the conversation as respectful, adding that people should use their platforms to educate and communicate.

The Lynx defeated the Fever 108-to-100.
