Court Agreements Establish State Fair Safety-Zone Restrictions

Court-enforceable restrictions are in place to prevent possible gang violence at the Minnesota State Fair.

Seven people named in civil lawsuits have agreed not to attend the fair or enter a designated safety zone surrounding the fairgrounds from August 27th through September 8th.

Three were allegedly associated with a Minneapolis group known as Muddy, while four were allegedly associated with a group called The Ville. All seven deny being gang members.

If they follow the agreements, the attorney general and Ramsey County attorney will dismiss the cases after the fair. A violation could lead to court enforcement and continued civil legal action.

A judge placed separate restrictions on three other individuals the court found to be Muddy members. Those orders prohibit certain conduct and association with known gang members inside the fair and safety zone.
