COURTLAND MAN ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARM

A Courtland man is in custody accused of illegally possessing a .22 caliber pistol, ammunition and methamphetamine.  55-year-old Dale Waibel has been charged with nine felony counts in relation to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition with prior convictions and four felony counts for possession of meth.  Waibel had been the subject of an investigation by the Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Drug Task Force in May.  New Ulm Police uncovered texts between Waible and a woman who was suspected of stealing a .22 caliber pistol from a New Ulm home.  Waibel purchased the weapon and a search warrant by the drug task force revealed the handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition and three boxes of .22 caliber rounds.  Investigators found clear crystals on the kitchen which tested positive for meth.  Court records say that Waibel has felony convictions on his record from 1993, 1996, 1999 and 2022.
