Cubs take series from Twins
(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Cubs secured a series win with an 8-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins at Wrigley Field yesterday. Chicago scored three runs in the third and added two more in the fourth to take early control of the contest. Michael Busch of Inver Grove Heights and Ian Happ both went deep in the victory for Chicago, while Jorge Lopez earned his second win in relief. New Minnesota reliever Trevor Richards was charged with his second loss after taking over for Joe Ryan, who left the game in the third inning with a triceps injury. Richards walked five batters in the inning and threw two wild pitches. No word on the extent of Ryan’s injury. The Twins have dropped their last two games and will have tonight off. Minnesota embarks on an important four-game series covering three days against first-place Cleveland starting tomorrow night at Target Field.
