Dallas eliminates Timberwolves in Game 5
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves ended their season with a frustrating and humiliating setback in front of their home crowd last night at the Target Center. Minnesota dropped Game Five of the Western Conference Finals 124-103 against the Dallas Mavericks to fall in the best-of-seven series 3-1. The Wolves trailed by as many as 36 points in the losing effort. Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns both finished with 28 points in game. Dallas star Luka Doncic (DON-chitch) erupted for 20 points in the first quarter and finished the series-clinching win with 36 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals. Kyrie Irving tied Doncic with a team-high 36 points and combined with him to knock down 10 shots from beyond the arc. With the game tied at 18-18, Dallas used a 22-1 first half run to break it open for good. The Mavs will be making their first appearance in the N-B-A Finals since 2011, where they will face the Boston Celtics. The Timberwolves now head into the offseason after their most successful season in 20 years.
