Dangerous Heat Builds Across Minnesota

The highest temperatures are expected across central and southern Minnesota, where afternoon readings will climb well into the 90s. High humidity could push heat-index values into the triple digits in some areas.

Warm overnight temperatures in the 70s will provide little relief and increase the risk of heat-related illness. Older adults, young children, outdoor workers and people without reliable air conditioning are especially vulnerable.

Health officials recommend limiting strenuous outdoor activity, drinking plenty of water and checking on vulnerable neighbors. Children and pets should never be left inside parked vehicles. National Weather Service forecast
