Daniel Charles Stevens was born October 10, 1957, in Appleton, Minnesota. He was the second son of Charles and Myrtle Stevens. He was baptized at the Methodist Church in Appleton and later confirmed there. Daniel attended school in Appleton and graduated from Appleton High School in 1976. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota in Waseca and Southwest State University in Marshall.

Daniel was born and raised in Appleton, Minnesota. He spent shorter chapters of his life in Texas, Alaska, and other parts of Minnesota before putting down roots in a farmhouse outside of Boyd, where he lived for decades. Later in life, Daniel returned to Appleton, where he spent his final years.

Daniel worked in railroad construction with Burlington Northern Railroad and at the family-owned Stevens Nursery and Landscaping company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, ice skating, hockey, gardening, painting, and traveling to the Black Hills in a quest for gold and serenity. In his youth, he was active in Boy Scouts and involved in his church.

Daniel had a lifelong love for dogs. He had many dogs throughout his life and seemed to have a natural gift with them. He could love, understand, and train almost any dog, as if he spoke their language. Later in life, Daniel’s cat also became an important companion. His connection with animals reflected his patience, gentleness, and caring nature.

From a young age, Daniel thought deeply about purpose. He often wondered what his purpose in life was and seemed to carry that question with him throughout his entire life. After surviving a serious motorcycle accident, Daniel’s perseverance became one of the defining parts of his life. He continued forward with strength, humor, and heart. In many ways, his purpose may have been found in inspiring others, making people laugh, being a great dad, and showing those around him what it means to keep going.

Daniel liked to have fun. He valued making memories and making others smile. To his son, Ty, he was a hero and an inspiration. He taught by example through resilience, humor, love, and perseverance. His life leaves behind the reminder that purpose can be found in the way we love others, the way we endure, and the way we make people feel.

He is survived by his son: Ty Stevens of Mahtomedi, MN; and Easton Andreas of Montevideo, MN, whom Daniel welcomed like a member of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Myrtle Stevens; and his brother: David Stevens.

Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home Vaala Chapel in Appleton, MN.
