Deadly Firetruck Crash in Yellow Medicine County
(Learfield News/Cottonwood, MN) — Authorities in southwestern Minnesota continue to investigate a deadly firetruck crash after the Lakeview High School homecoming events.
The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office says a Wood Lake firetruck flipped on its side Friday night near Cottonwood.
The report says a passenger – 43-year-old Steven Remiger of Wood Lake – was trapped under the truck and died at the scene.
Thirty-seven-year-old Andrew Vanhecke and a six-year-old boy were taken to a Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital with life-threatening injuries.
State troopers say that alcohol may have been involved.
The firetruck had been in the homecoming parade.
