Delayed Start for Hwy 19 Winthrop Bridge Project
The start date for the Highway 19 Winthrop bridge (box culvert) replacement project has been delayed.
MnDOT officials say due to recent heavy rainfall in the area that have caused the county ditch water levels to rise, the detour has been rescheduled to start on Monday, August 12 instead of today (August 5).
Officials say with the delayed start date, the project is now expected to be complete in mid-October, weather permitting.
Once the detour begins, motorists will be detoured to Highway 15 and Sibley County Roads 10 and 4 until the completion of the project.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change.
The project includes replacing the box culvert under Highway 19 to improve drainage and enhance safety.
Originally planned for 2022, the replacement of the box culvert in Winthrop was postponed until this year due to unanticipated soil conditions.
Landwehr Construction Inc. was awarded the project with a bid of just over $2-million.
