Deputies Seize 512 Grams of Meth Near Grand Forks
A Texas man faces drug charges after Grand Forks County deputies reported finding more than 500 grams of methamphetamine hidden in his vehicle.
Court records say deputies stopped 51-year-old Jose Sanchez for speeding on Interstate 29 north of Grand Forks around 1:45 Sunday afternoon.
Investigators say Sanchez gave deputies permission to search the vehicle. Meth was reportedly discovered inside a peanut-butter jar. Deputies arrested Sanchez and took him to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center, where staff reported finding additional meth and a glass pipe.
Authorities seized the vehicle and conducted another search at the Grand Forks County Narcotics Task Force office. Investigators say more meth was found concealed inside caulk tubes.
Authorities reported seizing a total of 512 grams. Sanchez is charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and bringing drugs into a correctional facility. The charges are allegations, and Sanchez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
