DNC Underway in Chicago
(ABC News/Chicago) – Democrats kicked off their convention Monday with a who’s who of guests who all touted Vice President Kamala Harris’ run for the White House.
Several topics came up during the night including the future of reproductive rights and Project 2025. But the main spotlight came as President Joe Biden spoke to the cheering crowd, reflecting on his four years as president and his decision to “pass the torch” to Harris.
Day two of the Democratic National Convention (Tuesday) will feature former President Barack Obama; other speakers include his wife Michelle Obama, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth.
Outside the outer security perimeter of the convention, Chicago police are busy managing large-scale demonstrations; as of Monday evening there had been some arrests.
Former President Trump on Tuesday holds a “crime and safety” event in Howell, Michigan. JD Vance holds a “crime and safety” event in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
