Dolly Parton’s Literacy Legacy Reaches Nearly 6,900 Central Minnesota Children

Dolly Parton’s legacy continues through thousands of young readers across Central Minnesota.

The United Way of Central Minnesota has administered Parton’s Imagination Library locally since 2005. The program has delivered more than 1.7 million free books to children across the region.

Six-thousand-891 children are currently enrolled. Each receives an age-appropriate book every month from birth through age five.

The Central Minnesota program is now the largest Imagination Library affiliate in the state.

Following Parton’s death, her family is encouraging fans to support the Imagination Library in place of sending flowers. Donations made through the United Way of Central Minnesota help provide books to children within the organization’s local service area. (United Way of Central Minnesota)
