Dorothy C. Bjork

Dorothy C. Bjork, age 88, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Benedictine Living Center in St. Peter, MN. Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Sunrise Church in St. Peter, MN at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Lunch to follow in the church social hall.

Dorothy was born on May 21, 1936 in Milton Township, MN to Charles and Lura (Witter) Brandli. She grew up in the area and graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1954. She then attended and graduated from Mankato State University with a bachelor’s degree in teaching. Dorothy later married John Bjork in St. Charles, MN on April 5, 1957. Together they moved to Le Sueur in 1964 where she taught elementary school for many years. Following John’s death on October 10, 1995 she moved to St. Peter in 1997 and married Darwin Gertner on May 2, 1998. She was active at Sunrise Church, involved with RV MAPS Missions, and took part in Lake Geneva Bible Camp, as well as spending time at her lake home.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Darwin Gertner of St. Peter, MN; her children, Bruce (Margo) Bjork of Le Sueur, MN, Steve (Chris) Bjork of Sauk Rapids, MN, daughter-in-law, Silke of Forrest Lake, MN, and Kyle (Elizabeth) Bjork of Buffalo, MN; 20 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Josie) Brandli of Circle Pines, and sister, Janet Drysdale of Kellog, MN

She is preceded in death by her parents, and former husband, John in 1995, and son, David in 2023, as well as six of her siblings Carl, Lyle, Claire, Doris, Janice, and John. The family requests that memorial gifts be given to Lake Geneva Christian Center or RV MAPS.
