Driver and Infant Seriously Injured in Chippewa County Crash

A driver and infant passenger were seriously injured in a one-vehicle SUV crash in Chippewa County on Highway 40 east of Milan Monday afternoon.

The State Patrol says the driver, 27-year-old Jose Ciru of Montevideo was taken to HCMC for treatment of life-threatening injuries. His infant passenger was taken to Children’s Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Another passenger, 20-year-old Jessica Delgado of Montevideo, was taken to Montevideo Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Patrol says the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 40 when it crossed over westbound lanes of traffic, hit a drainage ditch embankment, and rolled.

The crash happened just before 3pm.
