Driver Injured in Stearns Co Crash

A driver was injured in a one-vehicle crash in Stearns County early Wednesday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office says at just before 1am, they received a crash detection call with multiple impacts in St. Augusta off County Road 136.

Initially dispatch didn’t hear anyone on the phone. Eventually a man started screaming that he was stuck in the vehicle and to call 911. Officers arrived in the area and eventually located the vehicle in a heavily wooded area about 50 yards from the road.

Authorities say the vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old Dassel man, drifted off the road into a field and through multiple large trees and came to rest on the driver’s side.

The driver was taken to St. Cloud Hospital to be assessed for injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office says they believe drugs and alcohol were a factor in the crash.
