Empowering Communities, Celebrating Minnesota Locally

Drunk Driving Crackdown

Law enforcement agencies at the local, county, and state level will be cracking down on drunk driving for the St. Patrick’s holiday.

The extra enforcement runs through Monday, the 17th, and is coordinated by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety.

Through early March, 51 people have died on Minnesota roads, with seven of those linked to alcohol use.

Officials say St. Patrick’s Day and the weekend before is one of the heaviest drinking days on the calendar.
