Duane Allen Zeltwanger

Duane Zeltwanger, age 76 of rural Hancock, Minnesota, passed away Monday, August 17, 2026, at his home.

A graveside service for Duane Zeltwanger will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, MN.

Military honors will be provided by the Morris American Legion, V.F.W. and AmVets.

Duane Allen Zeltwanger was born on November 15, 1949, in Morris, Minnesota, the son of Lowell and Mary (Barsness) Zeltwanger. He attended District 45 country school and graduated from Hancock High School, Class of 1967. He continued his education at Alexandria Technical College for one year.

On March 21, 1970, he married Sandra Boon at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hancock. The couple lived in the Twin Cities for one year before moving to farm in Moore Township, Stevens County, south of Hancock. Duane has been a farmer nearly all of his life and was proud of the hard work it took to operate a farm. Along with farming, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, playing and watching sports, and drives in the country checking the crops.

Duane is survived by his wife: Sandy of Hancock, MN; daughter: Stephanie Berget of Hancock, MN; three grandchildren: Kody Berget, Clay Zeltwanger, and Cole Zeltwanger; sister: Donna (Dave) Pedersen; brother-in-law: Don (Carol) Boon; sister-in-law: Diane (Hal) Klinger; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Lowell and Mary Zeltwanger; son: Jason Zeltwanger; and son-in-law: Kerry Berget.
