Eden Prairie Game Evacuated After Shooting

Police continue investigating a shooting outside Eden Prairie High School’s homecoming football game that injured two people and forced officials to evacuate the stadium Friday night.

Police say the victims are 17- and 18-year-old males from St. Paul who do not attend Eden Prairie or Minnetonka schools. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The older teenager was released from the hospital Saturday; the younger victim remained hospitalized.

The shooting happened in a school parking lot around 8:40 p.m., shortly after officers broke up an altercation near Aerie Stadium. Police had not announced any arrests in their latest update.

The district canceled Saturday’s homecoming dance and plans to welcome students back Monday, October 5, with additional support. The interrupted football game is expected to resume Monday, with the time still to be determined.
