Edwards, Randle lead the way again as Timberwolves beat Warriors 117-110 for 3-1 playoff series lead

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Anthony Edwards launched a deep three-pointer from 30 feet just before halftime, giving the Minnesota Timberwolves a much-needed boost of momentum that carried them through a dominant third quarter.

At halftime, Edwards also delivered an impassioned speech to his teammates, a moment head coach Chris Finch credited with sparking Minnesota’s impressive second-half surge.

Edwards finished with 30 points, while Julius Randle added 31, helping the Timberwolves secure a 117-110 win over the Golden State Warriors on Monday night. The victory gives Minnesota a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinal series.

Keeping the game close at halftime proved crucial. Now, the Timberwolves head back to Minneapolis with a chance to close out the best-of-seven series in Game 5 on Wednesday.

The Warriors, still missing Stephen Curry for the third straight game due to a strained left hamstring, struggled to keep pace. Curry is set to be re-evaluated the same day as Game 5.

Edwards ignited a 17-0 run in the third quarter with back-to-back threes, scoring 11 points during that stretch to push Minnesota ahead 85-68. The Wolves entered the fourth quarter with a 97-77 lead, and Golden State never recovered.

Coming off a 36-point performance in Game 3, Edwards hit a key three at the halftime buzzer to narrow the deficit to 60-58. It marked the second straight game where Minnesota overcame a two-point halftime deficit — they did the same in Saturday’s 102-97 win.

Jonathan Kuminga continued to shine for Golden State, scoring 23 points and hitting 11 of 12 free throws, following up his 30-point Game 3 effort.

Jaden McDaniels contributed 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Timberwolves.

A brief flashpoint occurred 4:17 before halftime when McDaniels tugged on Buddy Hield’s jersey and made contact near his neck, drawing a replay review. The foul was ruled common, despite chants of “You can’t do that!” from the crowd.

The Warriors have now lost three straight games since Curry went down in Game 1. Their offense again sputtered, particularly from long range, going just 8-for-27 from three-point territory.

Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green each scored 14 points, while Hield added 13 for Golden State.

Despite Curry’s absence, Finch’s defense prioritized limiting Golden State’s perimeter shooting — a plan that paid off once again.
