Eight-Year-Old Killed in Paraglider Crash Near Aberdeen
An eight-year-old child was killed in a paraglider crash northeast of Aberdeen Wednesday evening.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 7:20 P-M in a rural area northwest of Westport.
Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. His 10-year-old child received minor injuries, while his eight-year-old child was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
Officials are asking the public to respect the family’s privacy.
