Ellison Brings Deere Right-to-Repair Settlement to Farmfest

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is scheduled to highlight the state’s right-to-repair settlement with John Deere at Farmfest today.

Ellison will join the Minnesota Farmers Union to discuss how the agreement expands farmers’ and independent repair shops’ access to tools, software and technical information.

For 10 years, Deere must provide repair resources comparable to those available to its authorized dealers. Those resources include access to fault codes, electronic-component programming, technical manuals and other diagnostic functions.

The agreement resolves a lawsuit alleging Deere unfairly restricted equipment repairs and pushed farmers toward authorized dealers.

Farmers are also expected to discuss how greater repair access could affect their operations.

Settlement details were verified through the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office and Minnesota Farmers Union.
