Extra DWI Enforcement Begins Across Minnesota

Extra impaired-driving enforcement begins Wednesday across Minnesota and continues through Labor Day.

Nearly 300 law enforcement agencies are taking part in the statewide campaign. The Department of Public Safety says alcohol-related crashes have killed 62 people and seriously injured 179 others in Minnesota so far this year. More than 13-thousand-600 drivers have been arrested for DWI.

Officials are urging anyone who plans to drink to arrange a sober ride. A DWI conviction can result in losing a license, jail time and thousands of dollars in costs.

The campaign is coordinated by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety.
