EXTRA SPEED ENFORCEMENT ON MINNESOTA ROADS THIS SUMMER
Law enforcement will be out this summer cracking down on speeders. Officials say a speed enforcement campaign started Wednesday and will go through Labor Day. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says 87-percent of all speed-related traffic deaths across the U.S happened on non-interstate roads in 2022 and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety says many speeding-related fatalities happen on other roads that are designed for lower speeds and have intersections, oncoming traffic and pedestrians. Statistics show that as of this past Tuesday, 100 people have died on Minnesota roads due to speeding, impairment and other dangerous driving choices compared to 69 last year at this time.
