FATAL CRASH IN WINDOM

The state patrol was called to a fatal crash in Windom Tuesday evening around 6:22 pm on Highway 71.  Authorities say a Kia Sportage driven by 28-year-old Hunter Schwartz of Albert Lea and a Buick Enclave driven by 42-year-old Amy Pigman of Odin collided on the snow and ice covered road.  Schwartz was taken to Windom Hospital and died of his injuries.  He was not wearing a seatbelt.  Pigman was hurt but was not taken to a hospital.  Three passengers in her vehicle, two teenagers and a twelve-year-old, were taken to Windom Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Windom police, fire and ambulance, Lakefield ambulance, the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office and Windom DOT assisted at the scene.
