Fatal crash shuts down Highway 52 between Cannon Falls and Hampton
(Hampton, MN) – BRING ME THE NEWS – A fatal crash is under investigation on Highway 52 near Hampton late Monday morning.
The head-on collision happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. when a northbound Toyota Camry crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound semi flatbed truck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The agency confirmed the crash is fatal, but no further information regarding the number of fatalities or injuries has been shared as of 3 p.m.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation around 11:30 a.m. said the highway would be closed in both directions between Cannon Falls and Hampton for approximately four hours.
The collision happened in the southbound lane between 250th Street East and Fischer Avenue, a MNDOT alert shared.
This segment of Highway 52 is also the site of a major ongoing construction project.
