Fatal Kanabec Co Crash

The driver of a pickup died and the driver of a car was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Kanabec County Tuesday afternoon near Quamba.

The State Patrol says the driver of the car, a 59-year-old from Brook Park, died at the scene. His name has not been released.

The driver of the pickup, 16-year-old Jacob Pickard of Hutchinson, was taken to Mora Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, 61-year-old Timothy Simrell of Hutchinson, was not injured.

The Patrol says the car was eastbound on Highway 23. The pickup was westbound and attempting to pass a semi when the pickup and car swerved to the south shoulder and collided head-on, just after noon.
