Fatal Kandiyohi County Crash

(Learfield News/Willmar, MN) A Kerkhoven man died after a multi-vehicle crash west of Willmar Friday morning.

The State Patrol says at around 7:20 a.m., two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane of Highway 40 just east of the entrance to the Willmar airport. No one was injured, however, conditions were very foggy at the time, and the crash caused a traffic backup. A 68-year-old man who was passing by stopped to check on the crash, got out of his vehicle, and was struck by an eastbound SUV. Sixty-eight-year-old Jeffrey Bauman died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, 30-year-old Jessica Schneider of Maynard, was not injured.
