Fatal Stearns Co Crash

Two people died in a two-vehicle crash in Stearns County Sunday morning.

The State Patrol says 30-year-old Lener Carrasco Salgado of Melrose and 20-year-old Nayeli Hernandez of Sauk Centre died at the scene.

They were passengers in an SUV driven by 23-year-old Elver Hernandez Carcamo. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, 54-year-old Matthew Newman of Sauk Centre, was taken to Sauk Centre Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 71 and County Road 28 in Getty Township just after 7:30am.
