Fire at Paynesville Restaurant

Crews were called to a fire at the Hilltop Restaurant southeast of Paynesville on Highway 55 Tuesday morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says at 9:45am, it was reported a fire had started on the roof of the building and the occupants were being evacuated.

The fire started as a new rubber roof was being installed and a torch was being used to join two areas.

Two fire extinguishers were used to try and help contain the fire until fire crews arrived.

No injuries were reported in the press release and no estimate of damage was given.
