First Shania, Now Sue Bird Honored With Own Barbie

Earlier this year, Shania Twain got the honor of becoming a Barbie doll.   Now retired basketball star Sue Bird will get that honor, too.

“I grew up playing with Barbies so it’s kind of a surreal moment when something like this happens,” Bird told People magazine.

She added that there weren’t any dolls that represented athletes when she was a child and hopes that the doll will inspire kids who want to be athletes.   Sue won two NCAA National Titles, four WNBA championships, and five Olympic gold medals during her playing career.

Mattel announced that Bird will be part of the Barbie Sports Role Model doll line and is available for order now at Mattel’s website for $30.
