Fischbach Easily Fends Off Challenge in 7th District Republican Primary
(Learfield News) Republican Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach easily won yesterday’s (Tues) primary election in western Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District with 65 percent of the vote to rural Kensington business owner Steve Boyd’s 35 percent.
Fischbach says she’s been working for three-and-a-half years to represent the people of the 7th District and says, “We’ve been traveling the district. We’ve been meeting with folks, working hard, making sure that we represent their values, and I think that the primary results validate all of that hard work.”
Fischbach ousted long-time Democratic Congressman Collin Peterson in 2020.
She’s up against Democrat A-J Peters this November and says, “The economy is gonna be the biggest question right now in people’s minds because inflation is killing ’em… and they need us to do something for them.”
Fischbach has the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, but challenger Boyd kept her from getting the nod at the district convention in April.
