Geese Seemed To Have Arrived

Geese are returning to Northwest Minnesota.

Conservation Officer Ben Huener in Roseau says the geese seemed to have arrived “mid-week”. Huener checked duck and goose hunters, bear hunting and ATV activity throughout the week. He says violations during the week include dumping a bear carcass in State Forest and minor ATV violations.

Conservation Officer Coby Fontes in Warroad notes a successful start to the goose season for most folks. He says enforcement action was taken for possessing lead ammunition and an unplugged shotgun while waterfowl hunting.

Conservation Officer Nick Bruesewitz in Karlstad says he spent the week working ATV traffic, sport fisherman, and early goose hunters. Violations for this week included juveniles without helmets on ATVs, permit unlawful operation of an ATV, and angling without a license.
