Glencoe Roundabout Complete
The new Highway 212 roundabout at Morningside Drive in Glencoe is ready for traffic.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday and MnDOT officials say crews will begin removing detour barriers this morning (Friday) and all-way access should be available by midday.
The $5.1-million single-lane roundabout was a joint project between MnDOT, McLeod County, and the city of Glencoe.
Work included the addition of ADA-accessible sidewalks and a multiuse trail on all sides of the roundabout.
Crews will complete punch list items following the road opening, and travelers are asked to be alert for workers and equipment.
Officials say benefits of the project include improved traffic flow, and enhanced safety for drivers and pedestrians. The roundabout will slow vehicle speeds and lower the risk of serious and fatal crashes.
