Gloria Jean Serocki

Gloria J. Serocki, age 80 Browns Valley, Minnesota, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Visitation for Gloria Serocki will be held Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN.

Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria Jean Serocki will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN, with Fr. John Paul Knopik officiating.  Music will be provided by Carmen Hills, Sue Sykora, and Stacey Borgheiinck.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Browns Valley.  Honorary pallbearers will be Grayson Serocki, Abigail Michels, MacKenzie Michels, Whitney Jensen, Gabriella Werdel, Chloe Marlow, Holly Nosbusch, and Malcom Nosbusch.  Active pallbearers will be Brett Serocki, Dylan Michels, Nicholas Serocki, Zachary Serocki, Lucas Serocki, Nathan Werdel, Caleb Werdel, and Thad Jensen.

Gloria Jean Gibson was born September 1, 1944, in Walls Township, MN, to George and Pearl (Madison) Gibson. Gloria graduated from Pipestone High School in 1962 and then moved to Minneapolis, MN, and worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital for a year before moving to the Browns Valley area.   She took many classes over the years at UMM Morris studying Early Childhood Development.

On April 24, 1965, Gloria married Jerome “Spud” Serocki at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley.  Spud and Gloria lived and farmed south of Browns Valley and in 1979 moved and farmed in Bryant Township where she still resided.  Gloria worked as a Head Start Aide in Browns Valley for several years.  In 1979 she began working at the Browns Valley School as a Paraprofessional until she retired.

Gloria enjoyed crafts, bowling, and spent many hours baking with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Gloria was known for making mints for all occasions and was always up for a camping and traveling adventure when her health permitted.   She enjoyed her many road trips with her cousin Kathy DeSpiegler, and friend Ann Krienke. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games to pass the time.  She recently discovered Diamond Art and completed many projects.

Gloria leaves behind her special friend: Jim Larson of Graceville, MN; and Jim’s children: Kristin (John) Nosbusch, and Sarah Larson; Jim’s grandchildren: Chloe Marlow, Holly and Malcom Nosbusch; Gloria’s children: Greg (Michele) Serocki of Rogersville, MO, Pam (Mike) Werdel of St. Lawrence, SD, Staci Ecker of Fargo, ND, and Jeff (Jill) Serocki of Bozeman, MT; twelve grandchildren: Brett (Jessica) Serocki, Dylan Michels, Abigail (Brenden) Michels, MacKenzie Michels, Whitney (Thad) Jensen, Nathan (Jewel) Werdel, Caleb Werdel, Gabriella Werdel, Nicholas Serocki, Grayson Serocki, Zachary Serocki, and Lucas Serocki; a very special great-granddaughter, Wynn Jensen; in-laws: Sylvia Serocki, Franny and Lawrence Renelt, Pat and Leon Westbrook, Paul and Kathy Serocki, Mary “Toots” Beyl, and Patsy Serocki; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband: Spud; parents: George and Pearl; grandson: Ryan Serocki; in-laws: Joe Serocki, Bob Serocki, and Kathy and Orell Yost.

Arrangements are with Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD.
