Google Details Environmental Protections for Hermantown Data Center

Google is outlining additional environmental protections and community investments for its proposed Hermantown data center.

The company says revised plans would reduce wetland impacts by 37 percent and include groundwater monitoring near trout streams. Google is also promising to limit noise, address potential effects on nearby private wells and provide $2.5 million in grants to area nonprofits.

Some residents continue to question the project’s location and potential environmental impact.
