Gopher Hockey slips by Bemidji
(Minneapolis, MN) — A three-goal third period helped the number-three University of Minnesota men’s hockey to a 5-3 home win over Bemidji State last night in Minneapolis. Golden Gopher freshman Brodie Ziemer scored less than four-minutes into the game followed by a Brody Lamb power play marker less than two-minutes later. Bemidji State’s Eric Martin cut the Minnesota lead to 2-1 with a first period goal, which was quickly followed by an Oliver Moore goal for the Gophers. Each teams scored a goal apiece in the last two periods, with Minnesota holding a shots on goal advantage of 39-25. Gopher goals came from John Mittelstadt and an empty-netter Lamb. Bemidji State got its final two tallies from Reilly Funk and Kirklan Irey. The Gophers improved to 10-1 on the year, while the Beavers fell to 4-6. The two teams wrap up a two-game, home-and-home series with a game tomorrow night at the Sanford Center in Bemidji at 6 P-M.
