Gopher Men BB Fall to Wake Forest
Minnesota men’s basketball lost to Wake Forest, 57-51, in the third-place game in the “E-S-P-N Events Invitational” in Florida on Friday. Lu’Cyue Patterson led Minnesota with 12 points, while Isaac Asuma added eleven points off the bench. Minnesota led 29-27 at halftime, but Wake Forest outscored Minnesota 21-12 in the first 12 minutes of the second half to build up a seven-point lead. Minnesota was able to cut the margin to a single possession several times in the last eight minutes of the game but couldn’t take the lead or complete the comeback. Wake Forest was 14-for-16 from the free throw line while Minnesota hit just six-of-15 free throws. Wake Forest also outrebounded the Gophers, 38-25. Minnesota falls to 5-3 on the season. They return home to host Bethune Cookman tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon.
