Gopher WBB moves into WBIT Elite 8

(Springfield, MO) — The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team notched a 78-71 road win at Missouri State in the second round of the W-B-I-T yesterday. Minnesota received 18 points apiece from sophomore guard Grace Grocholski and senior Annika Stewart, while junior point guard Amaya Battle added 15 points. The Gophers raced to a 27-12 lead after the first quarter before having to hold on late as the host Bears mounted a late-game charge to cut into the lead. Missouri State’s season ended at 26-9. Minnesota improved to 22-11 overall and will host Gonzaga in a W-B-I-T Elite Eight game at Williams Arena on Thursday night at 7 P-M. Tickets go on sale today.
