Gopher WBB opens season with a win

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team cruised to an 89-48 season-opening win over Central Connecticut State last night at Williams Arena. Senior transfer Annika Stewart came off the bench to score 18 points, hitting three-of-four from three-point range. She came to Minnesota from Nebraska and is from Plymouth. Junior guard Mara Braun of Wayzata scored 17 points, while Michigan transfer Taylor Woodson of Minnetonka tallied ten points. Minnesota led the game 24-6 after one quarter and never looked back. The 1-0 Gophers will host Vermont on Friday night at 7 P-M. Vermont upset Missouri last night 62-46.
